The Todd White Cornucopia of False Teaching
Some quick things about Todd White that are very concerning:
He does the fake leg-lengthening trick. Yes, it’s totally fake. This is fraudulent behavior. This is what a con artist does; in fact, Todd has said about himself: “I was a very good con artist.” Here’s a short video showing the fake trick; here’s a longer video showing the fake trick.
He claimed that God “totally healed my knee” after he originally claimed “God didn’t heal my knee.” This glaring contradiction is all on video.
He claimed that, early in his ministry, he prayed for “about 500 people over a period of three and a half months” but then he changed this story to “I prayed for almost a thousand people over a period of three and a half months...” This ridiculous exaggeration is all on video.
He makes outrageous claims of being a sinless “New Breed” Christian who wants to teach everyone how to be as pure as he is. This “New Breed” idea comes from the New Order of Latter Rain movement that was condemned by the Assemblies of God in 1949.
He claims that Christians should do psychic readings like the heretical cult leader, William Branham. Branham was a leader of the New Order of the Latter Rain movement.
He often brags about himself and enjoys getting lots of attention for himself, while he claims to be directing people to Jesus. It makes him sad that more people aren’t “the real deal,” like he is.
Todd White wants the “Catholic Church and the Christian Church to come together.”
Todd often tells a story of getting flipped up into the air multiple times while being shocked with very painful electricity at a Benny Hinn meeting (this was supposed to be a good thing). None of this was captured on video, however.

He is 100% clear about Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn being his mentors and spiritual fathers. He clearly teaches a prosperity “gospel” similar to those men, just not as often or as obnoxiously.
He is getting very rich with his speaking career, in spite of portraying himself as a guy who just walks around showing love to everyone. How rich? In 2015 he paid himself a salary of $625,000! And he lives in this $1.3 million mansion:
Todd White is a Christian superstar who seemingly came out of nowhere and is now headlining some of the biggest conferences and stadium events around the world. He is also famous for his YouTube videos that have been viewed millions of times, and now he’s even got his own full-length movie and $19 million training center. This tremendous media coverage and popularity, combined with his commanding stage presence means that most Christians will accept whatever he teaches as truth.
Unlike his much older mentors, Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn, he is highly regarded as man of the people who is out there on the streets “doing the Gospel” while “regular” Christians lead “regular” lives. He seems to have a video recorder with him at all times, so there are many videos of him evangelizing people with his warm and engaging personality. He comes across as genuinely loving and caring, so it’s no wonder that he has crowds of fans following him in person and online.
Unfortunately, his presentation of the Gospel is almost exclusively about his stories and dramatic experiences, combined with on-the-spot healings and prophetic words. He is constantly retelling the story of how he used to be a drug dealer and atheist, and how God radically changed him into a specially anointed new kind of Christian who never struggles with sin and performs miracles every single day. Although he does sometimes mention sin and the cross of Christ, it is never the focus of attention.
Dan Mohler
Todd White is the product of his mentor, Dan Mohler (Todd even talks like him and uses the same exact phrases as him), and prosperity preacher, Kenneth Copeland.

Todd White teaches a Word of Faith type of Christianity and Kenneth Copeland is one of the founders of that movement, so listening to Todd White is largely a retread of Word of Faith teaching.
However, Todd White also teaches the “Encounter Gospel” that is so popular with those at Bethel, Redding, and the New Apostolic Reformation movement, in general. This “gospel” focuses on just showing love to people and especially performing miraculous healings and/or giving prophetic words to people. The belief is that an unbeliever will jump at the chance to ask Jesus into their heart once they see for themselves that “God is real;” once they understand how loved and valuable they are. This is always taught in contrast to old-fashioned Christians who still think people need to repent from their sin in order to be forgiven by Christ’s atoning sacrifice on the cross.
What’s really strange about Todd White is that he “evangelizes” unsaved people by telling them how “special they are” and how “God thinks they’re amazing,” and he barely preaches about Christ and Him crucified to atone for sin. But once Todd is speaking at a Christian church or Christian conference he usually teaches a message about how we must never sin, or else we are complete failures who displease God.
Yes, it is important for Christians to hear the Law of God to keep their sinful nature (“the flesh”) in check, and to be reminded of the ongoing mercy of God, who always forgives. But Todd White flips this around and teaches Christians that they must become 100% obedient, and he uses himself as an example of someone doing it!

Basically, it seems that Todd White has no real theological understanding of the imputed righteousness that Christians receive by faith. In fact, Todd White has no theological understanding of any Christian doctrine, he is just repeating things he’s heard from people like Dan Mohler, Kenneth Copeland and his other mentor: Benny Hinn.
People are attracted to Todd White and his message because he makes great claims to be “really loving people” and “really living like Jesus lived” and so he appeals to the Christians who have yet to “live just like Jesus.” In this false theological framework Jesus is, frankly, pretty disappointed with everyone who isn’t as sinless as Todd White. Compared to Todd White (who never struggles with sin) they eventually feel racked with guilt and despair.
This is a message of works righteousness and it’s a false gospel!
“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!”
“ If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
“To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’ “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
“Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat, so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice. They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long, and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces and being called rabbi by others. But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ. The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”
