The Truth About Healing and By His Stripes

See this search field in the original post

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. – Isaiah 53:4-6 (ESV)

How to Reset Your Focus for God's Supernatural Healing

I want to preface this by saying I believe God heals. I have seen God miraculously heal. Since I believe that the gifts of the Spirit are for today, I also believe God can give the gift of healing to someone as the Holy Spirit wills; only for the glory of God. As with all of the gifts today however healing is grossly abused within the walls of Charismania and wildly misunderstood within the body of Christ in general. Do not doubt for a second that this is part of the schemes of the enemy because nothing breaks faith faster than when a healing does not come and we were led to believe that it would. So let us reason together through the above linked article from someone named Becky Dvorak who fancies herself a “prophetic healing evangelist” not to be confused with the apostolic interpreting revivalist. See? I can throw three buzz words together that have no meaning too.

“It never ceases to amaze me at how easily we can lose our focus for healing and become sidetracked by the enemy. And he's a master at getting us off-track with good things. Hmm ... What do I mean by this? When we are in need of divine healing from God, we need to build up our faith to believe for it from His Word concerning healing. But I see it over and over again that as we start to study the healing Word, we get drawn to other things, like finances, for example. Now there isn't anything wrong with studying finances from God's Word; it's just that the timing is wrong. And vice versa, if we need a financial breakthrough we would need to study God's Word concerning finances and not healing. But now we need a miraculous healing from God, and so we need to remain focused on God's healing power and study His Word concerning healing.” – Becky Dvorak

Note from the beginning the heretical transactional approach Dvorak takes to the Word of God. You want money? Read about financial provision! You want healing? Read about healing promises! I have often heard the analogy that the bible is like a salad bar but for Becky Dvorak it is a catered feast and she decides what is being served. I want us to carefully examine what she is saying here and ask ourselves – who is God in her scenario? If we need divine healing we must build up faith and we need to stay focused. The implication that she overtly makes and embraces is mandatory healing. This is the same heresy spewed by Bill Johnson at Bethel as well as all word faith adherents. The belief is that Jesus purchased our guaranteed healing in the atonement. Thus, God is required to always heal us and if we are not healed it is due to a faith issue on our end. Can you see how fraught that is beloved? Can’t you see people leaving the faith because they feel lied to in their sickness? Or others getting sicker because they believe it’s their own fault for their continuing sickness. Make no mistake about it beloved. This teaching is pure evil.

“The Bible is clear when it tells us that, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Rom. 10:17). If we need to build up our faith to believe God for something, we need to enter into a time in the Word concerning that topic until our faith is strong enough to trust God and believe. And in this case, we need to remain in the healing message of God's Word until we are encouraged in the faith and can actually believe and receive our supernatural healing from Him.” – Beck Dvorak

Yeah, no Becky. Nowhere are we encouraged to read God’s Word in such a slipshod myopic way. Even within our sickness doesn’t God wish to speak about other things into our lives? I read once about a woman who followed heretic Kenneth Copeland and was dying of cancer. Instead of seeing doctors, she just doubled her tithe and focused on the healing she was promised right up until she died. As for Romans 10:17, the word “so” indicates this verse summarizes what came before it:

So verse 17 has nothing to do with focusing on a single biblical subject you have need of. It is dealing with salvation. You cannot have faith in Christ without hearing the Gospel. Dvorak continues:

“During your healing journey, keep His healing Word nearby. Keep your Bible open to Isaiah 53:4-5 (AMP), "But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, and He has carried our sorrows and pains; yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken, struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; the punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, and by His stripes (wounds) we are healed."– Becky Dvorak

So we come to it. The twisting of Isaiah, pulled off by every fake faith healer today and throughout history. I provided these verses in a legitimate translation as the key verses. Let us examine them. These prophetic words are regarding the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. He bore our griefs and carried our sorrows. He was degraded and humiliated with the taunting, the robe and the crown of thorns. Why was He wounded so? For our sins! That is how we know this passage is not about physical healing but rather spiritual healing! He was crushed for our sin! His chastisement is what brings us peace. With who? God! By His wound we are healed. Amen. Not a physical on demand healing beloved but a spiritual eternal healing that makes us right with the Father again. Dvorak concludes:

“And in my book, The Healing Creed I teach you the Hebrew meaning of these words to end the doubt and confusion the enemy has caused in God's camp concerning supernatural healing from Jesus. I also have written up a confession of faith to declare over yourself from God's Word. Take this Healing Creed card and confess it over yourself over and over. Confessing God's Word over yourself is very powerful and reaps results. Write notes to yourself with your favorite healing verses and place them around your home or office. These serve as gentle reminders of God's healing promises to you. I have compiled 100 healing verses for you available free on my website to choose from. Whatever way you choose to use to stir your faith with the healing Word is up to you, but the point is to stay focused concerning the healing message. Don't get sidetracked—remain in the healing Word during this time in your life.” – Becky Dvorak

Allow me to introduce Becky to a new word – sovereignty. Now I am all for writing verses out and promises and reminding ourselves how good our God is but the idea is to do that in full acknowledgement of His sovereignty. Under the theology of Becky Dvorak, God has no sovereignty when it comes to healing. We all must be healed and if we are not then we need more faith. That is a vile teaching and Becky is far from alone:

Today, healing is your right because Jesus has paid the price for your healing. So if the devil says, “You cannot be healed,” just declare, “Jesus has paid for my healing. Disease has no right to be in my body. I am healed in Jesus’ name! Every curse of sickness that was supposed to fall on you fell on Jesus instead. He bore every one of those stripes, so that you can walk in divine health all the days of your life. The price has been paid so that you can rise up and get out of your bed of affliction!” – Joseph Prince

Healing is not your right beloved. Disease wrecks the physical bodies of faith filled believers every single day. If Becky was right there would be 200 year old Christians. Then there is the delicious irony of watching someone like Bill Johnson explain that everyone must be healed as he wears prescription eyeglasses. Or when a charlatan has a surgical procedure. What happened to your faith? People like Joseph Prince and Becky Dvorak mangle the bible to make promises God never made. Do not fall for it. God can heal you beloved but the choice is His, not yours. The important thing is that you have been healed eternally through faith so that if the answer is no you will be present with the Lord. Amen.
