"Hit the Bar" Episode 51: David Crank's Terrible Sermon of Awfulness!

See this search field in the original post

This is how it begins:

The video of David Crank, Expect More This Year! June 6, 2019, is what the Kozars were reviewing in the above YT video. It contains his outlook on the future . . . apparently he did not see 2020 coming, ‘just before a lot of people lost their jobs’, as Steve Kozar said.

If you have not watched their video, please do so. For one thing, they were in rare form but more importantly, they had things to say which need to be said about this false teacher and what he said.

Crank pronounces “yobel” and the auto-generated transcript writes it out as “Joe Bell”.

There is a pronunciation icon on this website if you are interested.

As the video review progressed, more and more scriptures were taken out of context and given meaning that pertained to what Crank wanted to say. He was not teaching nor preaching The Word of God. And, unless you are one who has studied the Word of God, or you take the time to go to the verses he does mention and see the context of the verse(s), you might never realize you’ve been deceived. See Confirmation Bias: Why You Are Protecting Your False Beliefs.

I like to define words, even regular everyday words I have used often take on a deeper or new meaning when I take the time to look them up in a dictionary. I also like to look into the Hebrew and Greek words used in the Bible; however, though I wanted to study these languages, I never did.

What is the year of jubilee?

The following is my layperson’s understanding. It is not an understanding I have developed all on my but I did choose to study it for myself some years ago.

Exodus 21; Leviticus 25; and Deuteronomy 15 outline what this year means.

Exodus 21:1-11 discusses the purchase of a Hebrew slave, who is to serve for six years but be release on the seventh year as a free man without payment. (21:2) A further reading will outline what happens if the man has a wife and children. If the slave loves his family and his master and will not leave his family, the master takes him to the door of the doorpost and pierces his ear with an awl indicating the slave will serve him permanently.

Leviticus 25 discusses the process which the LORD requires of the Hebrews when He brings them into the land which He gives them. That land is to have a sabbath (intermission/rest). They are to sow the land six years but give it rest on the seventh. There are instructions on what they are to do to get the land ready for the rest. When they do this, the LORD will see to it they have what they need for food supply on the seventh year when they are not planting and harvesting.

There is also the sabbath after the passage of 49 years. The 50th year is consecrated, debts are cancelled, property is returned to original owners, and they are not to sow nor reap in the 50th year. This is where the Hebrew word yobel (jubilee, or jubil in the KJV) shows up. There are quite a few instructions concerning this year of jubilee.

Deuteronomy 15 is a time when every seven years there is a remission of debts and setting a kinsman Hebrew free after serving six years. They are not to be sent away empty-handed. This section also talks about the piercing of the ear for what is called a bond slave or bond servant. Such a person is able to conduct business on the behalf of their master and is greatly respected in the community. They are known by the pierced ear. There is also a discussion of consecration of firstborn males.

In case you have not already noticed, there is nothing in these verses which suggest anything of which Crank talked about in the video. Nothing. This is a wayward (false) teaching.

If anyone claims something is from God, the Book has already been written and you may verify it with the Word of God. However, you may have to be diligent and vigilant about it. Start with a good translation (not a paraphrase or one of the Johnny-Come-Lately versions/translation wanna be-s). Get a good dictionary, paper and pen or pencil, and an Exhaustive Concordance with the Hebrew and Greek words/definitions included. Take time and investigate what you have been told. An Exhaustive Concordance has every word in the Bible available to you. More common words are treated differently. Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance was originally compiled with KJV words. There is one by Zondervan which is based on NASB but I have found it doesn’t have complete definitions and is missing some words. It takes a little bit to work through using a KJV Bible to get to the words but it is every bit worth it.

John 4:35 is the account of the woman at the well and the harvest that is white are those coming from Samaria wanting to hear for themselves what the Messiah has to say.

Back in the 1970’s there was something called plunking in the Bible in order to find answers. You just opened the Bible, let the pages fall open and whatever it fell open to was a message directly for you. Many times people just kept plunking until they read something they liked. To make the point of error: First plunk : Matthew 27:5 “…and he went away and hanged himself.” Try again. Second plunk: "Luke 10:37 “Go and do the same.”

Jesus is quoting from Isaiah and this involves His redeeming grace to set people free. The year of jubilee is the favorable year of the LORD … when grace is available to all because of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This means Gentiles (heathens) are welcome to what was previously Hebrew and of the circumcision.

Should you look up the verses in Isaiah, verse two contained two future events. The first one has been fulfilled by Jesus when He read from it while here on earth. The other is yet to come.

Matthew 6:33 needs the previous verses in order to be applied correctly.

Can you see where Crank is off with his message? I sure hope so. This post does not contain all of the misuses of scripture but it’s a fair start, wouldn’t you say? Get the YT Transcript and look these things up for yourself. Please.
